Eating gluten free in Barcelona is not always easy, but it can be done! These days, awareness of gluten is on the rise, and supermarkets, pastry shops and restaurants are beginning to cater to those who do not consider gluten a part of their diet. Tapas come in many shapes and forms and are an especially popular way to eat out. However, loads of them are battered and fried, often times using bread crumbs or flour (think croquettes, fried fish or calamari). But this certainly doesn’t mean one has to avoid tapas altogether! Here are a few suggestions of delicious tapas that are 100% gluten free and undeniably delicious!

That’s just to name a few, start exploring and discover the world of naturally gluten free tapas that are available!

While there aren’t loads of restaurants that are entirely gluten free in Barcelona, the ones that do exist are fantastic. Without a doubt, you’ll find one that suits your tastes.

There are a few different Barcelona supermarkets that have a wide selection of gluten-free products. Firstly, there’s Veritas, the organic supermarket with several different locations throughout the city. Meanwhile, another good option is El Corte Inglés, the mega one-stop-shop department store that lies in the center of every Spanish city. There is a supermarket in the basement that has a pretty impressive section of gluten-free glory. Not to mention all of our wonderful food markets. Why not take a journey through one right now with our lovely co-founder Lauren Alouise.

Whether you have celiac disease or have simply chosen a gluten free diet, eating gluten free in Barcelona is no longer a challenge!
