If you had asked people in Spain what brunch was five years ago, you might have received some strange answers or blank stares.<\/h3>\n

But nowadays, brunch in Barcelona is becoming as much of a religion as anywhere else, enough so that the verb\u00a0brunchear<\/em> has been adopted as general Spanish slang! Here are some of our favorite places that take brunch just as seriously as we do.<\/p>\n

Federal Caf\u00e9<\/h2>\n

Trendy, fun and original are how you might describe this Austrailian-run brunch in Barcelona. Fantastic food combined with a breezy dining room and a rooftop terrace make this place a local favorite, and you won’t wonder why. From hearty egg and sausage breakfasts to lighter fruit and muesli options, and with good music and great service to boot, Federal Caf\u00e9<\/a> is definitely worth the wait!<\/p>\n

Picnic<\/h2>\n

If you’re in the mood for the most classic of brunches, don’t miss out on Picnic. \u00a0Located on the edge of the Born neighborhood near the Citadel Park, this bright dining room is packed on the weekends with fellow brunch fans sipping cocktails over crab cakes and eggs Benedict. Boasting an impressive menu that is based on seasonal, local ingredients. They also do it up without getting overly pretentious. Not your cheapest brunch, but everyone agrees that it’s an awesome value.<\/p>\n

Caf\u00e9 Emma<\/h2>\n

Despite the central location of this French cafe and bistro<\/a>, it might be one of the lesser known\u00a0options for brunch in Barcelona. With an adorable terrace and delicious tartines and pastries, we don’t know why! You might actually think you’re in Paris when you arrive here. Try the poached egg benedictine for a truly sensory experience not to be missed.<\/p>\n

Milk<\/h2>\n

Roaming the streets of the Gothic quarter<\/a>, you might walk right past this place without noticing. A cozy cubbyhole, Milk<\/a> is perfect for both the early risers and the late ones. Reminiscent of the city that never sleeps, Milk offers their brunch menu all day long. Perfect for those who have been exploring the Barcelona nightlife<\/a> until the wee hours of the morning. Furthermore, if you might need a bit of a hangover cure go for what they call their recovery brunch menu.<\/p>\n
