Casa de la Memoria provides an incredible insight into the beautiful art that is flamenco, effortlessly combining singing, dancing, and guitar in one spectacle. Home to Spain’s first ever Flamenco Guitar Museum, Casa de la Guitarra<\/a> provides stunning flamenco shows, with a special emphasis on the art that is la guitarra flamenca<\/em>. Located deep in the Jewish Quarter of Seville<\/a>, this traditional establishment was founded by legendary local flamenco guitar player, Jos\u00e9 Luis Postigo, a man who has dedicated his entire life to honoring the flamenco tradition in Seville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intimate surroundings of the 18th-century building the shows take place in present incredible acoustics. This allows guests to fully appreciate the intricacies of the flamenco guitar, as well as the amazing dancing and singing that accompany it. The Guitar Museum itself houses over 60 pieces, demonstrating over 300 years of the history of this iconic instrument. Seating at each of the two nightly shows is hard to come by, so you would be better off reserving online. Surprisingly, entrance to the fascinating museum is actually free. El Museo de Baile Flamenco<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Flamenco Dance Museum<\/a> not just gives you an insight into the fascinating history of the flamenco tradition, it also puts on incredible, authentic shows which vibrantly bring that history to life. Constructed on top of the foundations of an ancient Roman temple, this building is a work of art in itself. Although slightly larger than other show venues, the passion and skill of the performers ensure that the excitement is felt right out to the guests in the back row!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets can be purchased for just the show or the museum visit alone. However, in order to get a real sense of the art of flamenco, we recommend buying the combination ticket that gives you access to both. Pe\u00f1as flamencas<\/em> are cultural associations often put together in honor of specific flamenco artists, genres or locations. Here, talented local artists get the opportunity to perform and hone their craft. The aim of a pe\u00f1a<\/em> is not to make money, but to maintain the flamenco tradition in its purest and most authentic form. This unique environment gives both visitors and locals the chance to see some stunning performances from local talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the most well-known pe\u00f1as<\/em> in Seville is Torres Macarena<\/a>, named after the street in the Macarena area where the organization originally opened in 1974. The pe\u00f1a<\/em> recently moved to a larger location in the same neighborhood and the fascinating and intimate performances demand the utmost respect and attention from guests. This respectful atmosphere offers a unique and unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of Seville’s most famous flamenco singers and dancers have performed here. The current 120 seat capacity building hosts weekly shows every Wednesday. There is no specific cover charge for entrance into a show.
