From full-bodied riojas to crisp, bubbly cavas and everything in between, there is so much to learn about Spanish wine<\/a>. Since we love a good vino <\/em>as much as the next person, we decided to round up some of our favorite wine tastings in Madrid. Here are several perfect opportunities to learn about the fascinating world of Spanish wine, whether you’re a wine newbie or a budding sommelier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Reserva y Cata<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This trendy wine shop in the heart of the hip Chueca neighborhood is home to some of the most unique wine tastings in Madrid! Reserva y Cata<\/a> features wines from top-name producers as well as smaller, family-run bodegas, so you’ll get a taste of everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While most tastings are done in Spanish here, the friendly, English-speaking staff is more than happy to arrange tastings in English upon request. The team is truly passionate about wine, and it shows in their commitment to helping guests discover more about this fascinating drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Madrid Uncorked wine tastings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Looking for a more informal, relaxed approach? We know that heading into a wine tasting can be slightly intimidating. That’s why we launched Madrid Uncorked<\/a>, with the goal of sharing our love of wine in a fun yet informative way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our monthly, English-language wine tastings in Madrid each have unique themes and plenty of Spanish snacks to go around. The event will set you back just 20 euros and teach you all you need to know about wine in a relaxed, unpretentious setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Vino y Cata<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A bit off the beaten path in the nearly tourist-free Arganzuela neighborhood, Vino y Cata is a bright, beautiful shop specializing in Spanish wines. This relatively new space has become a popular spot to get together with friends and enjoy a glass of wine in good company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The store offers regular tastings several times a month, all of which are announced on their website and Facebook page<\/a>. Every so often they also feature free mini tastings of one or two unique wines for anyone who stops by the shop! It’s also possible to arrange private group tastings for reasonable prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Enoteca Barolo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to wine tastings in Madrid, nobody does it quite like Enoteca Barolo<\/a>. This modern, contemporary shop is home to more than 2,000 different labels. You’ll find European wines from Spain, Italy and France as well as varieties from more far-flung regions across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tastings themselves are unique and varied. Guests will often have the opportunity to try rare international wines you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Vino y Compa\u00f1\u00eda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just north of the city center in the lively, authentic Chamber\u00ed neighborhood, you’ll find Vino y Compa\u00f1\u00eda<\/a>. Friendly, professional service and an incredible selection of wines (this is one of our favorite places to buy sherry in Madrid!) make it one of the best places to enjoy wine tastings in Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regular tastings here are often accompanied by incredible cheese and charcuterie pairings, so it’s a great way to experience many different flavors of Spain. And since the place itself is always packed with locals, you know it’s the real deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
